Dr. Carmia Borek, Ph.D. - Tufts University

As an antioxidant expert, Dr. Carmia Borek is a graduate of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel with a doctorate in genetics and molecular biology. Prior to that, Dr. Borek received a M.S. and B.S. degree in physiology from George Washington University. She has been published in over 300 scientific publications and has been the editor of several books in medicine and biology. Additionally, Dr. Borek is the author of over 80 educational and popular articles in the fields of diet and health, of which the most notable is titled, Maximize Your Health-Span with Antioxidants, a science-based book for the non-scientist.

Dr. Borek is currently a professor at the Community Health and Family Medicine/Nutrition and Infectious Disease Unit at Tufts University School of Medicine. She also serves as a consultant and on advisory committees for the food (nutraceuticals, health supplements, antioxidants disease prevention and control) and drug industry.

Dr. Julie Hazel Campbell, Ph.D., AO, FAA - University of Queensland

An expert in cardiovascular disease, Dr. Julie Hazel Campbell received a doctorate in neurology from the University of Melbourne. Prior to that, Dr. Campbell received a bachelor’s degree in physiology from the University of New South Wales. She has published over 210 publications, and she is the co-author of four books on cardiac muscle, vascular smooth muscle and tissue engineering of the arteries. She is also the author of Grow-your-own Designer Blood Vessels. Dr. Campbell is the recipient of a number of professional awards and honors, including The Queensland Businesswoman of the Year 2007 (Public and Not for Profit category), an officer for the Order of Australia in the General Division, as well as the Queensland Greats Award. Dr. Campbell serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Council, as well as the Secretary of Education and Public Awareness, for the Australian Academy of Science.

Dr. Campbell is currently a professor and director of the Center for Research in Vascular Biology at the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Queensland. She also serves as the director of the Wesley Research Institute at the Wesley Hospital and as a senior principle research fellow at the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).

Dr. Vivienne Elizabeth Reeve, Ph.D. - The University of Sydney

An expert in photoimmunological research, Dr. Vivienne Reeve received her doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Sydney. Prior to that, Dr. Reeve received a B.S. degree in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Sydney. As a chief investigator, Dr. Reeve holds or has requested nine research grants, on such topics as photoimmunosuppression, photoprotection, and photocarcinogenesis. She has also published multiple articles – six alone in 2007 – as well as one other currently in press. Recently, Dr. Reeve has been recognized for pioneering and sustaining research into the immunological significance of the UVA waveband and has initiated scientific dialogue concerning future photoprotection and sunscreen design for humans. The significance lies not only in the pro-oxidant milieu created in the skin by the UVA waveband that stimulates natural antioxidant defenses, including GPX and HO, but also in previously unrecognized steroid hormone and cytokine regulatory mediators.

Since 1989, Dr. Reeve has served as a senior research fellow at the University of Sydney, and became a principal research fellow there in 2007. She serves as a member of the Sunscreen Committee for the American Society for Photobiology, and is the associate editor for the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology and for Photochemical and Photobiological Sciences.

Dr. Richard S. Rivlin, M.D. - Weill Cornell Medical College

An expert in clinical nutrition, endocrinology and internal medicine, Dr. Richard Rivlin received his medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School. Prior to that, Dr. Rivlin received a bachelor’s degree in biochemical sciences from Harvard College. As a clinical-scientist, he has written over 160 research articles and is the author or editor of six books and symposia relating to nutrition and cancer prevention, vitamin metabolism and thyroid hormone action. As a physician, he treats patients with a wide variety of nutritional disorders, emphasizing the role of nutrition in disease prevention and control - particularly cancer. Dr. Rivlin is the recipient of a number of professional awards and honors, including the lifetime achievement award from the American College of Nutrition, membership in the American Society for Clinical Investigation (an honorary society), fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and fellow of the American Society for Nutritional Sciences.

Dr. Rivlin is currently a professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. He also serves as the director for the Nutrition Program at the Strang Cancer Prevention Center. Since 1980, Dr. Rivlin has served as principal investigator of the NCI-funded Clinical Nutrition Research Unit at Strang, one of only two such grant programs in the United States. Additionally, he served for 11 years as chief of nutrition service at Memorial-Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

What is jiaogulan?

Jiaogulan is a member of same family as cucumbers, melons, and gourds. It grows in five-leaf clusters, hence its botanical name, Gynostemma pentaphyllum. Jiaogulan has a long history of use in China, but is just now gaining popularity worldwide because of new scientific research supporting a wide range of health benefits that may very well eclipse that of any plant yet discovered. In its native home in southern China, jiaogulan is so revered that it is called xiancao (“herb of immortality”).

Jiaogulan’s broad spectrum of biological effects can be explained by its status as a potent adaptogen. This rare class of herbs has the ability to bring balance to the body under a wide range of stressful circumstances. Adaptogens also enhance the body’s ability to defend itself by improving immunity and increasing energy, stamina, and endurance. The chemical constituents responsible for the balancing effects of adaptogens are called saponins, and these exist in many forms. It is believed that the adaptogenic power of an herb is directly proportional to its content and variety of saponins. With 28 saponins, Panax ginseng is renowned as an adaptogen.But jiaogulan contains more than 100 health-giving saponins, which experts proclaim to be a broader and more powerful range than any other plant in nature. Where does jioagulan grow?

Although it is now cultivated in many Asian countries, it is widely acknowledged that the best and most effective jiaogulan grows in the forests and foothills of its original home in China.

How much jiaogulan is in Jule™?

The exact amount of jiaogulan, or of the other supernutrients contained in Jule, is not disclosed. This is considered one of the company's greatest intellectual assets. However, rest assured that each serving contains a highly efficacious amount of active ingredients specifically formulated to deliver maximum nutritional benefits.

What are gypenoside saponins?

Saponins are a diverse group of chemicals found throughout the plant kingdom, and many have been studied for their health benefits. Jiaogulan contains an elite subgroup of saponins called gypenosides, which may prove to exert the most profound influence on human health. Their structure is similar to the chemical structure of key hormones, and although gypenosides do not function as hormones, they have a remarkable ability to influence the body to produce a healthy balance of its own hormones. Jiaogulan contains more saponins than any other plant, and its bioactive gypenosides are not found in any other species.

There is no official approval process or certificate issued by the FDA to approve the sale of any food or dietary supplement. What is the shelf life of Jule™?

What is the best way to drink Jule™?

The daily dosage of Jule is flexible, depending upon one's needs. Although you can drink as much Jule as you want, we recommend starting with 1-2 ounces twice daily (for a total of 2 - 4 ounces per day), preferably with your morning and evening meals. As you continue to drink Jule, you may wish to adjust your daily serving to achieve the results you seek. For performance enhancement (sports, etc.), an additional 2 ounces can be taken 30 - 50 minutes before physical activity. Always shake well before pouring Jule. Why do I have to shake Jule™ before pouring?

Jule™ packs a lot of goodness into each serving. In fact, this liquid tonic is so potent that it is actually super-saturated. The small amount of precipitated nutrients at the bottom of the bottle will go right back into solution with a few quick shakes, and you'll be able to enjoy the full power of Jule!

Can children drink Jule™?

Yes, children of all ages can enjoy Jule, but the dosage can be reduced to ½-1 ounce once to twice daily for children under age 12.

What is an adaptogen?

As the name suggests, plants known as adaptogens help the body to adapt. What are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are nutrients that protect the cells in your body from oxidative damage. As the body uses oxygen, there are by-products known as "free radicals" that can cause damage to cells. Antioxidants are known to denature these free radicals, and high antioxidant status in the body is associated with a decreased risk of many chronic diseases. Many fruits and vegetables have high antioxidant capacity, and Jule is outstanding in this regard. It provides the antioxidant capacity of 15 servings of fruits and vegetables in just 4 ounces.

Why does Jule™ contain preservatives?

Preservatives help maintain a product’s freshness. Sodium benzoate, the sodium salt of benzoic acid, can prevent the growth of almost all microorganisms (e.g., yeast, bacteria, and fungi). Benzoic acid is found naturally in tea, anise, most berries, cultured dairy products and cheese, cherry bark, and cassia bark. As a result of extensive safety data and long years of widespread use, the United States government has determined sodium benzoate to be Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS). Jule contains less than one-tenth of one percent sodium benzoate, which is just the right amount to keep harmful microbes from growing.

Potassium sorbate is a potassium salt version of sorbic acid, a polyunsaturated fat used to inhibit mold growth. Sorbic acid has been repeatedly tested for safety and efficacy, and today stands as one of the most thoroughly tested food additives in history.

Why are there natural flavors in Jule™?

People in China have been drinking herbal tonics and remedies for generations, but for those outside of Asia, they may be an “acquired taste.” High-quality jiaogulan is somewhat bitter by nature so Jule is blended together with a small amount of organic cane juice, natural fruit juice, and natural flavor. Some people may prefer to mix Jule with the beverage of their choice. This is perfectly fine and all the benefits of Jule can still be enjoyed.
